Tea Subscription Box Options

Crofter

Crofter Breakfast Tea was inspired by a little grey fergie. The little grey fergie has lived on the Tiree Tea croft since she was born in 1947. She is still a working tractor.

Like the fergie, Crofter Breakfast Tea is a versatile blend equally suited to breakfast, a flask on the go or, (in true Tiree style) accompanied by a couple of biscuits after an already large meal. Leaving it in a teapot on the stove to stew for a couple of hours is traditional, but entirely optional.

Hints of: baler-twine and marauding livestock

Net weight: 60g (20 teabags)

Ingredients: Indian Assam Black Tea, Kenyan Black Tea, Sri Lankan Black Tea.

Tilley

Tilley Mint and Nettle Herbal Infusion draws it’s inspiration from a variety of souces! Tilley lamps once powered island homes. Now Tilley the Turbine powers community projects.

A refreshing blend of peppermint, spearmint and nettle, Tilley Mint and Nettle Herbal Infusion is inspired by Tiree’s fresh breeze, and the scent of wild mint as a crofter trails through a bog on the heels of a cow. The less said about nettles, the better.

Hints of: birds flying backwards and washing stuck on a fence.

Net weight: 40g (20 teabags)

Ingredients: Mint (70%) (Peppermint, Spearmint), Nettle (30%)

Machair

Machair in Tiree supports the Great Yellow Bumblebee – one of the rarest in Britain. It loves the fertile ground, which stretches down to the shore, carpeted in sweet wildflowers throughout the Summer. Find out more about the machair here.

Like the machair and the flowers the bees enjoy, Machair Herbal Infusion is sweet and fragrant with subtle citrus notes.

Hints of: pretty petals and mis-pronunciation

Net weight 30g (20 teabags)

Ingredients Green Rooibos (30%), Lemon Verbena (25%), Nettle (25%), Lemon Thyme (8%), Mallow Flowers (4%), Red Cornflowers (4%), Sunflower Petals (4%).

Gneiss

Gneiss is the bedrock of the Hebrides and Tiree gneiss was the intended building material for the Skerryvore lighthouse, but after the first three foundational courses the builders opted for softer Mull granite for the rest of the tower!

Like its namesake, Gneiss Earl Grey is a solid base for a great cuppa, topped with lighter notes.

Hints of: Dance tunes and bright lights.

Net weight 50g (20 teabags)

Ingredients: Sri Lankan Black Tea (98%), Blue Cornflowers, Natural Bergamot Flavouring, Natural Flavouring

Ferry Berry

Ferries have long been a comforting sight for islanders, providing a lifeline service all year round. Ferry Berry Herbal Infusion is bold and striking, welcoming you aboard with a heady mix of spices to warm the toes like an early morning announcement that the cafeteria is open.

Hints of: Cathy Bhàn and chilli mornings on the pier.

Net weight 50g (20 teabags)

Ingredients: Cinnamon, Apple Pieces, Hibiscus, Elderberries (14%), Ginger, Allspice Berry (5%), Cloves, Red Peppercorns, Lemon Verbena, Rosehip, Chilli, Blackberry Leaves, Orange Peel, Freeze-dried Blackberry, Raspberry Pieces, Strawberry Pieces, Natural Flavouring.

“What about the plastic?” we hear you cry! Fear not, our teabags are plastic free and 100% biodegradable. You can enjoy that cuppa with a clear conscience. Even our mailing bags and packing tape are biodegradable. Any additional packaging is repurposed!

Rhoda was extremely helpful when I had some technical difficulties getting subscription set up. Once sorted the first delivery arrived within a few days. Truly the best Earl Grey tea I’ve ever had ?. Couldn’t recommend more. And the tea tins are fab too..I think I’m gonna soon find a quarterly subscription just isn’t gonna last ?

Love your teas. Especially as I don’t need milk and sugar. The Tilley tea is a perfect balance of fresh mintiness and nettle. Crofter Breakfast tea takes me back to when tea tasted like tea, authentic, loose tea poured from the teapot. Machair is my favourite with not too much floral balanced with the comforting and healthy tasting herb blend. I also love how you’ve bagged the tea itself and the packaging design.
