About us

Tiree Tea is owned by Rhoda Meek (Tiree) and Rebecca Hutton (Harris). We have known each other for 26 years. Frankly terrifying.

Rhoda

If you are so inclined, I (Rhoda) am on linkedIn. I am permanently based in the Isle of Tiree. I live in the house my Great-great-grandfather built.

Helpers include my over-enthusiastic and energetic dog Wisp. As well as a plethora of cats, hens and sheep and cows. They all offer different qualities, including practical assistance, humorous distraction, good company and inspiration!

My favourite tea is Tilley. When I am not staring at a screen or chasing an escaped animal, I like to take photos, play minecraft and crochet.

Becca

The other half of Tiree Tea is Rebecca Hutton.

Becca is a traditional independent Harris Tweed Weaver running her own business, Taobh Tuath Tweeds. When she is not extolling the virtues of a good cup of tea you will find her in the shed hitting a recalcitrant loom with a hammer.

Becca is owned by two cats, Bobbin and Pirn, and has a truly extensive Coca-cola collection.

Her favourite tea is the Hearach. So it should be, as a good Hearach herself!

We are both native Gaelic speakers and are passionate about keeping our resident island communities alive and thriving.

Alongside Tiree Tea, we also run Isle Develop CIC, a Social Enterprise developing digital projects with Scottish islanders at their heart.

Our current projects are:

You can follow along on the blog. Then head back to the main site and buy tea online!

As if that wasn’t enough, there is also The Angry Triangle – where you can buy knitting yarn from the Tiree Tea croft!
